Basic descriptions
Daki is one of the primary antagonists in the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is a demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki, being the secondary holder of the position of Upper Rank Six a position she shared with the primary holder, her older brother, Gyutaro. Daki's hiding place, Yoshiwara was founded in the Edo period of Japan, where it quickly became a prominent district for prostitution and sex work. The highest ranking courtesans were known as Oirans. Three of the most famous and prominent pleasure houses in the district during the Taisho period were the Tokito House, Kyogoku House, and Ogimoto House.
For nearly a hundred years, before the latest intervention of the Demon Slayer Corps, Yoshiwara became the home and lair of two extremely powerful demons, Upper Rank Six of the Twelve Kizuki in the siblings Daki and Gyutaro. Owing to Daki's great beauty, experience in sex work, and her unique Blood Demon Art, they made Yoshiwara a successful hunting ground, where they captured and devoured numerous victims. Daki's long life and subsequent attempts to hide her true nature started the legend of a very beautiful but cruel Oiran, the stories passing down generations. Most attempts to stop them by the Demon Slayer Corps were unsuccessful, with Gyutaro claiming to have killed 15 Hashiras, and Daki killing 7.
Her appearance
Daki was a beautiful, curvaceous, and very youthful woman with pale, cracked skin, long eyelashes, and lime green eyes with the kanji for
" Upper Rank"
and
" Six"
carved across them. Her initially black hair was styled in a full, long ponytail with three kanzashi hairpins holding up the ponytail on each side. She sported two pink flower demon crests on her face and wore a two-piece version of her kimono consisting of magenta pink panties tied with long black bows on the sides and two magenta pieces of cloth on her chest, magenta thigh-high stockings with black flower patterns, tall three-legged sanmaiba shoes, and a pink flower-patterned obi wrapped around her waist, which she used for her Blood Demon Art. After Daki's obi sashes returned to her, black cracks would appear on various parts of her body and her hair would shift from black to pale white with lime green tips, matching her original hair color when she was human.
Daki's personality
Daki was a very prideful, cruel, and arrogant individual who took great enjoyment in toying with her victims and seemed to have very little tolerance for failure, a trait she shared with her master Muzan Kibutsuji. She was also somewhat seductive, as seen when she flirted by Tanjiro by saying that he was
" cute but ugly"
and also possessed a childish streak due to having transformed into a demon when she was only thirteen years old, causing her to throw tantrums and cry hysterically when things didn't go her way. Unlike many other demons, she was also picky with her food, preferring to only eat people that she viewed as beautiful or strong; as for the others, she would simply kill them and leave their bodies behind without eating them, which people often mistook as suicide.
Daki's Blood Demon Art
Obi Sash Manipulation: Daki's Blood Demon Art allowed her to create flower-patterned obi sashes from her flesh, as well as freely manipulating them at will. Daki often created these sashes from her back and retracts them back into her body when not in use. She has also displayed the ability to exert control over her obi from extremely far distances. Her sashes are noted to be soft like silk yet as sharp as a Nichirin Sword. In combat, Daki used her obi sashes as powerful and fast tendril-like whips to unleash long-ranged interweaving attacks while also being able to use it to form a shield around her body if need be, making her Blood Demon Art an extremely effective blend of offense and defense. Her sashes were so powerful that they could repel and block attacks from Tengen's explosives[46] and slice up buildings with ease. Furthermore, they are especially difficult to cut because of their soft properties, and can further loosen the effectiveness of slash attacks by bending and weaving.
Backstory
